Have you wondered why your battery drains faster while you are travelling? Or have you noticed any change in your smartphone battery on low network signal strength?
If yes, then why?
Before we understand the reason behind, first we should know exactly how mobile network work.
Every mobile device has its own signal antenna through which it communicates with mobile network towers.
When two devices have to communicate, the major role is played by antenna and towers.
When we have to communicate to the person who is very near like about some kilometres, the network requires very low power to manage the radio and electromagnetic waves all along.
Walky-talky also works little bit similar but walky talky does allow users to either speak or listen at a time. It does not have the capacity to work in two way communications like mobile phones.
So our phone, when it has good signal strength, it uses less energy because for example, if a person has to call another person whom he can easily see from a near distance, he will not call him very loudly rather than he will use soft tone. On the other hand when any person cannot see you, then he will use more energy to contact you.
The same concept applies to mobile network and towers. When your phone is far from the nearest tower, it requires more energy to communicate. The more energy it consumes the faster battery will get affected.
Now, people wonder when they travel, they often have to deal with the issue of their phone battery draining very easily even when the phone is set aside and is not used.
Although on android the main reasons for battery drain are always the brightness and killing background apps and reloading them again and again. But we see when we are at home, our battery does not drain that much and even in the flight mode.
But when we are travelling for instance like a road trip. We notice our battery draining so faster and we also wondered whether our battery got some issues with charger or charging so much.
The reason is when we travel with high speed our mobile network change towers at high speed that results in the consumption of the battery more faster.
Also, it is advised not to pick phones when your phone is changing its network continuously. It is because when the nearest network is about 10 kilometres away, your phone has to use more power and more radiation emits. Therefore try not to pick your phones when you are continuously moving. Use when you have stopped whether in between or reached your destination to protect your body from heavy radiation.
When you are travelling in a plane, it is advised not to switch on your network, another issue apart, but there is rapid changing of the network if you switch your phone on because of high speed. It also develops a heavy load on the network.
