Cell phones cameras have really become quite impressive. Less than a decade ago, if you wanted to take a decent picture, you would need a digital camera, a DSLR camera or something similar. Now, the latest cell phone models pack some really great tech, and the pictures they take are on par with those taken with digital cameras. In fact, it’s come to the point where the feature I’m most excited about on my phone is the camera.
However, it isn’t just about taking great pictures. If you want to print some of your best shots or post them on social media, a little post-processing is almost always necessary. So, I thought it would be a good idea to find the best photo filter apps so I can edit my photos right on my phone. After doing a bit of research on the web, I found a site called AppGrooves with a list of the top 10 apps with photo filters and effects to edit your photos.
I checked out some of the apps on their list and I found quite a few that I really liked. I selected my top 3 favorites and checked them out to see how they are.
Deep Art Effects – Transform your photos into works of art
Deep Art Effects is my first pick. I found this to be a great choice if you want to transform your pictures into works of art. I was quite impressed with the variety of filters. There are dozens of photo effects that include everything from Van Gogh-style to Rembrandt-style depictions. My personal favorite is the Dali-style effect. I also liked how fast it processes your images. In just a few seconds the image is ready to save and share on social media.
While I found it to be great for turning photos into art pieces, I found it to be missing some of the traditional photo effects and filters you would expect to find in a professional photo editor. However, if you are looking for an app to give your photos a unique look and style that you won’t find anywhere else, then I’m certain you’ll love Deep Art Effects.
Glitch VHS Art – Give your photos a unique vintage look
My second pick is Glitch VHS Art. What I really like about it is that you can edit both photos and videos in one place. I also liked the variety of vintage photo filters, as it has everything from VHS style effects to 3D wave art, and more. I also found it pretty neat that you can edit digital glitches into your photos and videos. Another plus is that you can customize every filter exactly as you want, so you can truly create the picture or video you are envisioning.
The only drawback I found is that when you edit your photos to the editor, there is no option to select a photo or video from an album. The only way is to scroll through the camera roll, which can take a bit of scrolling if you are looking for a picture that you took a while back. However, I found it to be a small inconvenience considering all the neat filters and effects that you can use on edit your photos.
PicsArt Photo Studio – More than just photo effects
Last but not least, my third pick is PicsArt Photo Studio. I found this to be one of the most complete photo editing apps out there. Not only can you apply filters and effects to your photos, but you can also draw on them, add stickers, and make collages too. I also thought it was pretty neat that you can easily create your own personalized photo stickers and save them to use them in the future. One of the features I liked the most is the fact that you can mix two or more photos into one to create some pretty unique pictures.
If you are looking for a simple app with only the most essential photo editing features, then this may be more than you are looking for to edit your photos. In fact, there are so many editing tools to choose from that it might seem a bit overwhelming at first. However, I did find the how-to feature to be really helpful in learning how to use the effects and find my way around the app. So, take advantage of it if you want a little bit of help getting started!
These are my top 3 favorite apps with photo effects and filters to edit your photos. I found each one to be really useful depending on what you want to do with your photos. The first one is great for creating art pieces form your photos. The second one is great if you want to add glitches and vintage effects to your pictures. And, the last one is great if you want to make collages or stickers from your pictures. I ended up keeping all three on my phone, so I always have all the photo editing tools I need right at my fingertips. No need for a computer or expensive photo editing software!
