Shanghai based NIO announced to launch automated EV’s in U.S. by 2020


Young automaker global start-up NIO is to launch autonomous electric vehicles in U.S. by 2020

NIO, a next generation Shanghai based automotive startup, announced that they will provide first autonomous electric vehicle in the US market by 2020. The startup company discloses its “NIO EVE” the embodiment of their vision for future of autonomous cars.

But the point of discussion, is the young automotive company will face a lot of competition and will it be capable of making its place in global race to create a big effect on the market conditions?

According to Padmasree Warrior, NIO’s United States CEO, we are excited about having autonomous electric cars for US consumers by 2020. Further she said the company revealed its vision for the car of the future which is focused on delivering unmatched user experience through leading edge, software defined hardware.

Moreover she said in 2015 the commuters in the U.S. spent over 8 billion hours in their cars commuting. NIO’s automatic electric cars will make the journey safe, more productive and enjoyable. The cars will be able to know your needs and tastes and will be your companion and there will be always welcoming living space that will move you definitely every time.

The company provided the technical specifications sheet that shows a target driving range of about 966 kilometres per charge, although the electric range was not discussed.

The company in November 2016, the company launched its electric supercar, the NIO EP9, which achieved a new lap record of 20.8 km in 7m 05.12s and leaving behind the previous EV lap record held, making it the fastest car in the world.

Warrior said the car will be completely capable of driving itself in constrained environment. At the outset, we were targeting solving the problem of commute that all of us face around the world.

Although the NIO is involved in getting aspects from Tesla’s playbook and it will also have to compete with other startups like Lucid and Faraday Future based in California, United States.

Moreover there are automobile maker including Nissan, GM, Volvo, Ford and Mercedes are introducing their range of more innovatory vehicles. It will be tough challenge for the automobile startup to set up its market and develop the popularity in the country.

The company US CEO, Padmasree Warrior announced that the NIO is partnering with , NVIDIA and NXP. Warrior did not put up emphasis on describing the specific technical characteristics of the autonomous electric vehicle. But the company has good potential to bring themselves into existence and expand the number of customers and clients in the U.S. automobile industry.
